Learning Objectives

Following this session, participants will have a new understanding of the common objections and resistance points preventing librarians from embracing discovery tools, participants will also gain knowledge of best practices for integrating discovery tools in information instruction as well as tips, tricks and examples for helping librarians realize the real opportunities that discovery tools provide to positively transform information literacy

Librarian resistance to discovery tools often causes a disconnect between investments made and how tools are promoted to end-users.  This session analyzes common objections librarians have to discovery tools and provides practical ways to overcome resistance through discussion of the opportunities discovery tools present to positively transform information literacy.
