The U.S. Defense industry can actually act as a mentor to the public and private sector in regards to the LGBT community. Its culture can be unique, because although conservative in nature, when change happens, the industry responds enthusiastically to the issues, resulting in positive aspects that other industries can use for their own benefit. This workshop strives to help attendees from both industries learn from this culture and thrive as LGBT employees and allies. With the end of DADT, it should be easier for the industry to work with the military on projects, since any tension caused by the inequality which did exist for military people is now lifted. Recruitment of openly gay military members is now not only possible, but also simpler.
