Mirror, Mirror: Solutions for Challenges around Religious and LGBT Identities

Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM–11:30 AM CDT
Metropolitan
Workshop Description

For nearly 20 years, Tanenbaum has used a tool called the 10 Bias Danger Signs© to identify the areas where religion emerges at work. Many of these signs also apply to sexual orientation and gender identities.

In this session, the 10 Bias Danger Signs will be used to discuss where and how discrimination and non-accommodation arise for people who are religious and/or lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, showing the similar challenges these identities can face in the workplace. The session will provide concrete recommendations for how to create policies and practices that are inclusive and accommodating of all employees, regardless of how they identify, as well as insights as to how faith-based and LGBT employees can be allies for one another
