Discussion of LGBT issues in the workplace once was taboo. Now, open inclusion of LGBT individuals in the workplace is common. However, some employers have not addressed LGBT inclusion policies and practices or considered the advancement/development of LGBT employees. Accordingly, some employees feel they must hide their identities or leave their organization to advance their careers and avoid discrimination.
This presentation will provide organizations with guidelines for making their workplaces more inclusive by discussing legal requirements and best practices to ensure all employees, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, feel they are working in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment. The panel also will discuss ways by which to not only retain LGBT employees, but help them – and the organization – thrive.
