Workshop Description
Our proposed presentation analyzes diverse perspectives and utilizes presenter role play to demonstrate important legal themes, exploring the delicate balance between an employer's duty to reasonably accommodate sincerely held religious beliefs and practices, yet still create a welcoming environment for employees who do not follow these same beliefs and practices. In particular, the workshop will discuss the potential conflict between religious belief and sexual orientation in the workplace and will address the latest legal developments relevant to these issues, including the many recent proposed and enacted Religious Freedom Restoration Act in state legislatures as well as case law on the subject.
