Transgender Protections In Employment
Workshop Description
This panel of legal experts will discuss protections for transgender employees with respect to how Title VII has been interpreted by the EEOC and the courts, and agency guidelines regarding employer treatment of transgender employees. Our experts will also provide a cultural competency review for employers, and address additional workplace issues impacting transgender employees in both the public and private sectors including health care, government issued identification, and more. We will review the current state of law regarding protections for transgender workers and provide an overview of best practices for trans-inclusive employers. Panelists include Greg Nevins (Counsel and Employment Fairness Program Strategist, Lambda Legal); Demoya Gordon (Regional and Transgender Rights Project Adviser, Lambda Legal) and Beck Bailey (Deputy Director of Employee Engagement, HRC).
