Individuals derive happiness from household produced commodities. While literature has been focused on consumption of goods and services in retirement, time spent to produce household commodities has been overlooked. Using a system of Tobit models, we investigate whether and how having a stable source of income may allow retirees to take on time-intensive commitments, such as child care, adult care, and volunteering, that they otherwise would not do. It is expected that having a stable source of income, such as a pension and other annuity payments, will increase the time that retirees spend on child care, adult care, and volunteering.
