Learning Objectives

understand how telescope bibliographies are created and how librarians play a role in curating metadata for astronomical data in the scholarly literature.

Abstract

Librarians at the European Southern Observatory and Space Telescope Science Institute will present ongoing projects to harvest and curate metadata about the astronomical data used in scholarly papers.  Efforts to develop processes to make data citation part of the scholarly publication process will be discussed.
