S15 - Assessing the User Experience of E-Books in Academic Libraries: Search, Usage, and Information Finding
Conference Track
5. User Experience
Learning Objectives
Following this session, participants will be able to understand typical user behavior of searching, using, and finding information in e-books in academic libraries from log data and user tests. Participants will also develop understanding of important user experience issues of current e-books and how future e-book interface design should address those issues.
Abstract
We report findings from a comprehensive assessment of e-book user experience from transaction logs, e-book usage data, and user tests. Results of the assessment have significant implications for the design of e-book features to support users’ reading strategies and help libraries create a consistent e-book user experience.
