Develop key components of a licensing principles checklist for their institution

Utiliize resources gathered by the Charlotte Intiiative to select the best publisher and vendor prospects to comply with the selected principles

Provide ebooks for permancent access and superior usability to their faculty and students

Be a confident negotiator of ebook licensing terms

Abstract

Which publishers and vendors will license ebooks for maximum usability?   A two-year Mellon Foundation funded project explores proposes three principles:

  1. Unlimited simultaneous users
  2. No Digital Rights Management (DRM)
  3. Irrevocable perpetual access and archival rights

This update will share preliminary findings of the environmental scan.
