Understand the layers of internal and external communication involved in managing the migration of a small academic library from a traditional ILS to a next-gen URMS, Gain knowledge into the “zero-hour” implementation tasks that require efficient and nimble communication with external content providers and local third-party systems operators, Explore the methods used to manage communication and education regarding new URMS functionality among internal stakeholders such as faculty and students, and Develop a stronger awareness of the continuing processes of communication crucial to sustaining an effective URMS, including ongoing meetings, training opportunities, and managing reported issues with the system.
Abstract
At Rollins College, the process of migrating to the Alma URMS and Primo discovery service involved (and involves) interrelated layers of communication among numerous stakeholders. We will examine the ongoing steps that should be taken to ensure efficient, clear, and expeditious communication and project management practices during and after migration.
