Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 2:30 PM–3:15 PM CDT
Room 204
Conference Track

3. Organizational Strategies

Learning Objectives

Participants will gain insightful strategies to approach a reorganization of various technical services units, including: 1) analyzing where e-resource management functions could  be situated organizationally, 2) developing staff in support of electronic resources management functions, and 3) identifying metrics for assessing effectiveness of e-resources workflows and reorganizational outcomes.

Abstract

As library budgets languish, e-resource availability flourishes, and new technologies emerge, two academic institutions share projects for reorganizing workflows.  The presentation will cover reorganization efforts of Technical Services at Tulane University, and Acquisitions and Resource Sharing at University of Kansas.  Both will outline processes, resulting strategies, personnel training, and assessment metrics.
