Directed Self Placement for Multilingual Writers: Empowering Choices
Abstract
Directed Self-Placement (DSP) is a tool for for L2 writers to place themselves in the most appropriate first-year writing course at a four-year public university. Results of the implementation of DSP for multilingual writers is shared through results of survey data and interviews with student writers and professors. We validate DSP as a tool allowing multilingual college writers to gain confidence and autonomy by placing themselves in the writing course that best meets their needs.
