Using Alma Analytics to Increase Efficiency in Library Resource Usage and Processes

Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:15 AM–12:00 PM CDT
Meeting Room 4
Product or Program Track

Alma

Session Description

Alma analytics is more than just a reporting tool, but rather a means for smart decision-making based on data. Over the past years Alma analytics has included the addition of new subject areas as well as the addition of new parts to existing subject areas. The ultimate roadmap is steadily progressing from “descriptive analytics” to “predictive analytics” (what will happen) to “prescriptive analytics” (how should we act). In the current stage of Alma analytics it is possible to use data to identify where processes can be improved. In this session we will look at such reports and identify:
·         How can I detect which vendors should be used for a more speedy and efficient acquisitions process?
·         How can I free valuable space on the open stacks of the library for a more useful purpose?
·         Which electronic collections could I cancel while saving maximum money and causing minimal impact?
·         Which areas should I strengthen in my collection development?
·         How can I distribute library staff throughout the departments in the most efficient manner?
