Salon Conversation: What's our Capacity for a Common Capacity Building Lexicon and Assessment Tool?

Monday, May 2, 2016 at 4:30 PM–5:30 PM CDT
Minnehaha (Second Floor)
Session Description

Want to meet other grantmakers who are focused on the same issues, in the same role, or wrestling with similar challenges? The Conversation Salon provides a space and time for participants to gather and talk informally about commonalities, specific burning questions or whatever's on your mind.

CONVERSATION TOPIC: Grantmakers have a wide range of tools to measure capacity of grantees. Imagine a community-wide set of validated indicators for capturing change in capacity of grantees that could be commonly adopted – drawn from existing best practices across the community. Those indicators would provide a common lexicon for sharing results and learning about capacity building across organizations. It would also provide a validated capacity assessment tool any grantmaker could adopt going forward. This peer-hosted Salon Conversation is designed to engage two sets of grantmakers in this early-stage effort: (1) those who have capacity indicators they are willing to share with the larger community, and (2) those who are seeking capacity building indicators to assess grantees’ capacity. Join this Salon Conversation to learn more about this work and share your ideas.
