Session Description
This session will explore how Western Kentucky University’s Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO) gained support for expanding its role in providing customized cohort programming to serving as an incubator for new online programs. Participants will be shown a process innovation for how CE Units can be a resource for launching new academic programs under challenged budgets. Since adoption of the idea in 2009, DELO has supported WKU academic departments in offering 21 new degree programs and the impact of the program has been transformational. To date, 13 programs providing more than $2.5M in annual revenue to the University have been transitioned to base budgeting with funding for 12 tenure-track faculty lines and 5 professional staff positions.
