Abstract

This presentation overviews professional school counselors’ participation in helping students with disabilities develop the self-determination skills (i.e., self-awareness, identifying social supports, and effective social skills) needed to transition from high school to college. Using a practical and strengths-based lens, the presenters provide specific strategies professional school counselors can use to promote college readiness skills in students with disabilities.
