Abstract
Technology and electronic communication has become an integral component of school counseling.Email provide an efficient way of communicating with school personnel and parents regarding students. Due to confidentially and privacy guidelines, it is incumbent school counselors are aware of legal and ethical implications regarding email communication. The purpose of the presentation is to provide an overview of FERPA and its impact on electronic student records, and provide best practices of maintaining confidentially utilizing email.
