Abstract
HB 198 requires school systems to train school counselors on suicide risk assessment, intervention, and prevention. However, how are the state’s CACREP-accredited programs training students in school-related crisis and trauma before they enter the field? Only 3 programs offer a crisis/trauma course. Students who took such a course will discuss their experiences crises and trauma-causing events during their internships and share how theircoursework in crisis/trauma prepared (or didn't prepare them) to respond. Case studies and resources provided.
