Research has indicated that school counselors face ethical dilemmas more frequently and of a more intense nature than do counselors who work in clinical settings. This presentation draws upon a study investigating professional school counselors’ experiences of ethical decision-making at their school setting in their own words. Emphasis is given to the strategies school counselors use to make best-practice decisions when these challenging ethical dilemmas arise. Implications for Counselor Education and preparation are considered.
