Session Abstract
This paper explores the use of systemic functional linguistics to enhance the reading and writing capabilities of bilingual, first-generation college students in a summer bridge program. SFL informed instruction gave students insight into the ways academic language works along with tools to comprehend and use language in more sophisticated ways.
