When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. The Non-Traditional Student: A Proprietary School's Action Plan to Influencing Persistence

Insights about the challenges with the non-traditional student's persistence and best practices for successful support services will be shared.

Learning Outcomes
Attendees will receive template of our Student Professional Development Committee (SPDC) template. The SPDC was developed to assist students in developing the steps to their individual success. A roundtable discussion will provide participants with the opportunity to interact with presenters and other audience members in sharing what has “worked” with respective nontraditional undergraduate students in achieving student degree success.
Session Description
To meet the changing needs of the workforce, non-traditional students are becoming an increasing percentage of the undergraduate student population on campuses. Colleges have been slow to embrace and support their specific needs. Student support services and retention efforts have traditionally been oriented to 18-22 year old students seeking degrees. Non-traditional students typically face issues, such as balancing career, fiscal, personal, technical, and familial responsibilities. Because of their unique needs, the services required to persist to graduation are more challenging, i.e., childcare services, time management (work/life/home/school balance), financial and emotional support, technology training, etc. In addition, the academic world has developed an entirely new educational language since many were last in the classroom.
Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
