2013 Annual Conference

du 5 au 8 November 2013

Lexington, KY

It is time to review the schedule for the placement of your session in the AAACE Agenda. This is the final draft of the Schedule. When you look up your name, use the detail listing to check what days/times you asked to be placed. This is a huge program and we can accommodate necessary changes in day and time now, but may not be able to do so after September 1, 2013 except in emergencies. Please carefully check your placement and send any requests to Ginger Phillips, AAACE Conference Planner with AAACE Session Change Request in the subject line. We will respond to your email, but it may take us up to a week to do so. Thanks for your help in "fine tuning" this agenda!

Help Build and Sustain the Future of AAACE Through the SIGs.

vendredi 8 novembre 2013 à 10:15–11:00 EST
Woodford
Type of Presentation

Concurrent Session (45 minutes)

Session Abstract

AAACE is revitalizing the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and seeking leaders and active members. Come be part of the conversation, gain leadership credentials, and help shape our professional future.

Target Audience

Participants will include AAACE members from across disciplines who are interested in being active members and leaders for AAACE. Of the 29 SIGs available, only a handful have leaders or are actively serving members. Becoming involved in SIGs is one way of assisting members who want to become part of the leadership succession for AAACE. As part of this session, participants will gain a better understanding of the organizational structure of AAACE and the role of SIGs in supporting AAACE members. The session also provides opportunities to network with colleagues and form sustaining relationships.

Learning Outcomes

Participants of this session will be in on the ground floor of shaping the future of the SIGs within AAACE. Learning outcomes from this panel include: (1) understanding the purposes and goals of SIGs, (2) accessing pathways to leadership within AAACE, (3) helping shape future conference programs, (4) networking with an international group of colleagues from across disciplines, and (5) interacting with colleagues with similar interests.

Session Description

This session seeks to contribute to the sustained growth and development of AAACE through mutually beneficial engagement of its members. The panel will include leaders of active SIGs and others to discuss the history and benefits of participating in AAACE SIGs. With 29 SIGs formally listed and only a handful with any activity, the SIGs need re-energizing. With this session, we invite members to consider leadership opportunities within AAACE, network with colleagues from across disciplines and regions, and gain national service to support professional credentials and career development. Involvement with SIGs can build a better understanding of the organizational structure of AAACE and enable members to influence national/international dialogue related to their area of interest. Innovative approaches to SIGs are encouraged through the use of technology and social media to connect with the target audience. We encourage members to come and engage in creating the future of the SIGs.

Efforts are made to try to schedule sessions on the day preferred by the Primary Presenter, though this cannot be guaranteed. Please check your preference.
