Session Abstract
The work examined the level of literacy of the women in Igbo-Ora; and suggests means of ameliorating on the literacy level. The instrument of NAAL was modified and provided the basis for a measure of the literacy level of the 220 samples of the 25-year-olds and above. Literacy was categorized into three: Prose, document and quantitative. 95.00% of the women remain stark illiterates. The consequences have been calamitous. Creating literate environments and societies is mandatory. The community would have to leverage massively on the state, national and world programmes of Education for All.
