Session Abstract

The findings of a study focusing on international doctoral students' advising experiences in the U.S. academia will be discussed. An advising model was developed that emphasizes mentorship as an approach informed by novelization. When presenting this model we draw on Mikhail Bakhtin's view of the novel (1981) as a genre that promotes cultural diversity.
