Session Abstract
I will broadly cover the period of rapid industrialization of the Appalachian regions. Prior to the Civil War the Appalachian mountains were isolated from from the lowlands of the South The regions of the Appalachian mountains were rich in exploitable resources and people. With industry came missionaries to civilize Appalachia.
