Program Summary/Abstract Description

The article discusses the integration of a Social Studies topic in Greek Language class within our one way Greek partial immersion program in Socrates Academy. The presentation will explore the process of designing, implementing, and assessing a Social Studies topic about the planetary system in the target language (Greek).  I extract information from L. Dee Fink's paper on tertiary education “A Self Directed Guide to Designing Courses for Significant Learning," and apply his techniques in the classroom. Through my re-interpretation of the original context, I implement his method "A taxonomy of significant learning" for elementary classes, gearing towards a more holistic academic perspective. This well-rounded lesson is rich in original learning experiences, while reassuring the coordination and the alignment between the Greek and the American curriculum.
