Short Description

In 2008, the Basic Old Age Pension (BOAP) program was introduced in South Korea. The BOAP is a non-contributory social pension program. This paper examines the association between the expectation of old age financial stability resulting from the BOAP and changes in consumption of non-durable goods among elderly Koreans. This study uses a panel comprised of the 2008-2012 waves  of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLOSA) dataset.
