Program Summary

This paper explores MA-TESOL students’ construction of professional identities through an analysis of teaching philosophy statements written as a course assignment. Using Ivanić’s (1998) framework for analysis of identity, it examines how writers incorporate aspects of their professional education and past experience into their evolving teacher identities.
