Program Summary

This presentation uses activity theory to trace the relationship of influence between novice teacher educators’ pedagogy and preservice teachers’ L2 pedagogical content knowledge throughout a field experience in community-based adult ESL. Findings highlight contradictions limiting preservice teachers’ development and the importance of understanding activity systems to provide responsive mediation.
