Room 204
Conference Track

5. User Experience

Keywords

Discovery systems, user behavior

Learning Objectives

Following this session, attendees will understand why collecting qualitative and quantitative data from their discovery systems is valuable. Participants will realize the user behaviour data that could be acquired from discovery systems, and the library services that could be adapted, adjusted, or improved based on the information.

Abstract

Okanagan College introduced analytical software to their discovery service as a means of tracking user search behaviour. The collected qualitative and quantitative data provided information that was previously unavailable. The user behaviour data and key trends will be discussed, as well as the implications for informing and shaping library services.
