Session Description
Fewer than half of 18-25 year old students believe their education is preparing them for the jobs of today and tomorrow. Current adults feel the increased pressure of employer needs that are changing so fast, accelerated by the pace of technology change. One in three jobs in 2020 will require skills that aren’t common today and employers are already struggling to find employees with the skills they need. This is resulting in 6M unfilled jobs. Applied Digital Skills from Google is part of the Grow with Google initiative to help create economic opportunity for everyone. This initiative provides the best of Google’s training and tools to help people grow their skills, careers, and businesses. With the free Applied Digital Skills curriculum, learners of any age will work through project based tasks to build digital literacy skills using G Suite applications. These tasks are easily transferable to the workplace or classroom and focus on practical real-world digital and life skills. Designed for learners with any level of technology experience, the video-based curriculum allows users to learn at their own pace. Lessons range from digital basics to more advanced skills where they can apply existing knowledge and experience to a digital environment.
Format & Technique
Each participant will have an opportunity to explore Applied Digital Skills as a learner as well as a an instructor. Planned collaborative activities will engage the learner in the resources. Digital and print materials will be shared for reference.
