Session Description
“Are there any questions?” This is perhaps the worst question an educator can use in the learning environment because rarely do students admit that they have questions about the course material. This session will focus on quick assessment technique that can gauge the understanding of all students in the learning environment. By using these techniques, educators can quickly monitor and adjust their teaching methods or course material to ensure that students are maximizing their learning. These techniques require little time to prepare but can still have a maximum impact on students. In addition, these techniques can be incorporated into any academic discipline and into almost all adult education learning settings. Through hands-on activities, attendees will practice using these assessment techniques and will leave with several new strategies to add to their teaching toolboxes.
Format & Technique
This session will be interactive. Some general information will be shared with the attendees in a standard presentation. After the presentation, attendees will practice and apply the quick assessment techniques individually, in pairs, and in groups.
