Session Abstract
In order for adult learners, especially those with a disability, to access digital material online, content creators must follow accessibility standards and guidelines and implement these best practices into their work. This research focuses on the barriers that adult educators face when creating digital content for their learners.
Target Audience
Faculty, staff, and administrators who interact with students in an online environment, creates content for adult learners, and those with interest in making their digital materials more accessible to adult learners with disabilities.
Learning Outcomes

Identify the barriers they face when creating online content.
Apply knowledge and skills learned during the roundtable to their daily workflow.
Create a plan for implementing accessibility features into their current work.

Session Description
Adult learners of all abilities are consuming information online. Those with disabilities will often encounter barriers to consuming the information when the material is not accessible. During this roundtable session, I will discuss issues surrounding the accessibility of online content and barriers that adult educators face when creating digital content for their adult learners. I will highlight my research involving graduate students going through the Adult and Higher Education program at the University of Central Oklahoma.
