An introduction to the roots of TL learning theory and contemporary conceptualizations of TL

ConversAsian takes enhancing global and cultural competencies to a whole different platform: YouTube. Inspired by their time working with diversity organizations on campus and their favorite YouTubers, three students have created a unique channel and social media campaign dedicated to the Asian culture. A diverse set of cast members share their stories and perspectives on challenging questions and topics in episodes uploaded every other Friday. What makes the experience unique is that the questions and topics can come straight from the viewers themselves — they have the opportunity to submit questions anonymously to ConversAsian's social media for a chance to be featured in a future episode!

The project aims to enhance the global and cultural perspectives of the viewers, cast, and creators by providing a platform for underrepresented voices to be heard and a safe learning environment for questions to be asked. The creators will share more about the channel — from its purpose and logistical challenges to its impact within and outside the Asian community — in a poster presentation supported their own personal stories and experiences while working behind the scenes. Visitors to the poster session also have the opportunity to be part of the project by submitting their own questions to ConversAsian's social media for use in a future episode, just like the viewers.
