Session Abstract

This presentation will explore how adult learners describe the transition to blended learning.  The presenters will detail how adult learners relate the experience of the transition, and the way in which they were supported to achieve success in the new format.

Session Description

This presentation will explore how adult learners describe their transition to blended learning and resultant academic success.
The problem to be addressed is that due to COVID-19, all classes at a private liberal arts college transitioned to blended learning. It is unknown how adult learners describe and relate the experience of transition. This presentation will incorporate a traditional lecture format, and audio clips from the focus groups so that the participants' ideas and thoughts are shared with a large audience. This is a platform for participants to share their own experiences and how their institution came up with a real-time solution as physical space was lost.
Three types of data were collected in this case study to explore graduate adult student perceptions of the transition to blended learning, and archival data were used to document persistence rates and student satisfaction rates for the Fall 2020 semester, as the transition occurred.
