Session Abstract

The development and leveraging of adult learner agency is a plausable solution to improving the transfer experience and promoting success for adult learners who are entering baccalaurate degree-completion programs. This roundtable will explore strategies to identify potential for and develop agency among adult learners as they navigate the transfer process.

Session Description

Many adult learners attempt to transfer from community colleges to four-year institutions to complete their baccalaureate degrees. However, the transfer pathway is often confusing and many adult learners struggle through the process. Some adult learners have to attempt the transfer process multiple times before successfully matriculating in and earning their baccalaureate degree.

The development and leveraging of adult learner agency is a plausible solution to improving the transfer experience and promoting student success. This round table will explore strategies to identify potential for and develop agency among adult learners. The concept of agency will be explored along with ideas about how to identify sources of agency.
