Session Abstract

Even though there is considerable research on engaging the online learners, the adult learning world continues to seek ways to enhance the student's virtual world.  This action research study focuses on some of the areas that adult students identified to help them during their virtual learning.

Session Description

Much research has been conducted on how to enhance the online adult learner's environment. This session contributes to the existing literature with additional areas that students identified that would help to make them feel more comfortable and engaged in their virtual world of learning.

This action research study examined feedback from adult learners and reviewed themes of what adult learners wanted. How can assignment feedback in the virtual world be improved so that the learner feels as engaged as in a face to face classroom?

This adult educator enhanced her existing knowledge on teaching methods and feedback methods based on feedback from adult learners. Virtual learning will continue to grow and online teaching will require innovative ways to reach individual students. We should build on the existing research and continue to improve.
