Session Abstract

There is a disproportionate incidence and hospitalization rate from Covid-19 among underrepresented populations. Social inequities, structural factors, and economic factors contribute to this. We will discuss our strategy to reduce disparities. In addition, the development of our culturally responsive intervention and impact that this intervention had on students.

Session Description

The current pandemic has brought attention to long standing racial disparities. There has been a pleathora of articles highlighting the stark racial disparities related to the current pandemic. Racial disparities have become central in the national conversation related to the pandemic. Rising unemployment, food insecurities, and unstable housing have perpetuated health disparities. Further compounding these disparities is the geographical distribution of preventative care services.
