Session Abstract

Racism and oppression are not new.  Yet, many White-identifying individuals grapple with how to respond and engage.  How do you unpack years of inequality, acknowledge your privilege, and recognize your responsibility to change an unjust system?  Join White-identifying individuals to share resources and create action to build an equitable society.

Session Description

This has been a year. George Floyd. Police Brutality. Breonna Taylor. COVID-19. Riots. Protests. Ahmaud Arbery. Insurrection. Voter Suppression. White Supremacy. Anti-Asian Racism. Mass shootings. Systemic Oppression. Equal Pay. While many of these issues are not new, many came to head in the last year and a half. Many White-identifying individuals have grappled with how to respond, how to engage, and how to be part of much needed change on all levels. Where do you start? How do you unpack years of inequality, oppression, and racism? How do you acknowledge your privilege and responsibility in a system built for you? Join other White-identifying individuals as we share our own journeys through education, learning, and action around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Learn how to get started if you’re struggling and walk away with resources and action steps to be part of the movement to a more equitable, fair, and just community.
