Session Abstract

Background: Racism is pervasive. The film Mudbound discussed racism.
Theoretical Framework: Critical Race Theory was utilized.
Methods: A qualitative content and thematic analysis were utilized.
Findings: These themes were uncovered: (1) Historical Realities of Racism; and (2) Racism and White Supremacy.
Conclusion: Discrimination and historical realities were depicted in Mudbound. 

Session Description

This session is significant because it highlights the experiences of race, racism, and discrimination that occurred with the southern states of America within the film Mudbound. This film can be utilized as an educational tool about historical events as well as the nature of race, racism, and White supremacy.
