Conversations around toilets and hygiene remain deeply stigmatized, perpetuating barriers to awareness, behaviour change, and impactful policy. Using FLUSH’s experience, we illustrate how humour, storytelling, and accessible language can disrupt cultural silences and promote open dialogue. Additionally, we examine how the wider impact sector can effectively address "shameful" topics without reinforcing discomfort, fostering inclusivity, and driving sustainable change. We propose normalizing conversations, shifting perceptions, and enhancing community engagement.
