Learning Objectives

Following this session, participants will have new insights into Academic user search behaviors, as well as gain an understanding of how this knowledge can be used to not only fine-tune relevancy and interface design, but also to provide users with guiding recommendations within the user experience that proactively improve their research outcomes.

Abstract

Data-informed design is key to meeting users’ expectations. This session explores how data mining of discovery service usage logs and analysis of user behaviors at individual libraries and at Web-scale, across hundreds of libraries and millions of users, provides new insights and opportunities to proactively improve the Academic research experience.
