Managing license agreements is an important assignment for E-Resources librarians.  ALMA license module ensures managing license agreements and displaying copyright and ILL permissions in search results. Abstract

The LSU Library's launch of an interactive chat widget in Fall 2021 led to a substantial increase in user engagement. This proposal highlights the dual role of chat as a virtual help desk and a live user-experience reporting tool. Analyzing chat transcripts revealed significant access-related issues, presenting an opportunity to enhance student satisfaction and identify hidden problems within the library's resources. This presentation will primarily address e-resource challenges, including EzProxy stanzas, custom links, and web submission forms, demonstrating the potential of chat as a valuable feedback mechanism.

The University of Wyoming has developed a data mining process using Python and the platforms Dimensions and OpenAlex to pull institutional scholarly publication data to compare open and closed publications for 2022. Libraries invest significantly in e-resources with hopes of use. Vendor-provided statistics often lack user-level data. At UH-Manoa, user logins are required for accessing e-resources, whether on-campus or off-campus. Abstract

Many books, articles, videos, and other resources are often inaccessible or not sufficiently accessible to people with perceptual, cognitive, physical, or other disabilities. Remediation of this course material helps provide accessible content to users; campuses want to share this output across institutions to prevent double work. Metadata is a critical component of ensuring an efficient and successful accessibility workflow. The NISO Accessibility Remediation Metadata (“ARM”) Working Group is working to review and standardize a proposed metadata model to more broadly support these important efforts.

The University of Minnesota Libraries regularly collaborates with campus IT to conduct usability evaluations of the Libraries website and discovery layer (Primo). This presentation will discuss how these usability projects are managed, including scenario development, and compare results from two recent evaluations of Primo, conducted in 2020 and 2023.

Roseman Univserity of Health Sciences Library evaualted the existing Interlibrary Loan practices, Clio and Docline, and determined the need for a more automated system. After an evauation of needs we agreed on implementing RapidILL into our workflow to hopfully reduce manual intervention and patron wait times.

SeamlessAccess is producing a toolkit that gives librarians a framework for auditing their resource access. This presentation explores Usability & Privacy and features a library case study using this toolkit to identify and address access-related issues, assess potential ethical or legal exposure, and identify best practices and recommended next steps for moving forward. We will also demonstrate how this toolkit can serve as a communications tool to enable librarians to improve knowledge and awareness within their teams as well as with key stakeholders outside the library.
